Polygon.com – NewsAnnounced during the CloverWorks industry panel at Anime Expo 2026, Grotesqqque is an anthology movie directed by Atsushi Nishigori, who was chief animation director for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time. Nishigori also directed the underrated mecha romance gem Darling in the Franxx and was the character designer for another seminal mecha anime, Gurren Lagann. Read More
